Cleaning it up and get rid of whatever you don't need, might help. Running Ccleaner and to see what programs run on the PC and at least stop them from loading at startup or even uninstall them would in all probability help. I am able to go away from my PC for a few hours without turning it off. When I come back, I can start working as usual without any problems. So why your system gets stuck seems strange to me.

That said I do prefer a Mac, partly because it has less needs of antivirus (although these days the main reason would probably be because there are so many more Windows PCs than Macs so organised crime isn't as interested in infesting Macs as they are Windows), and partly because a Mac in many ways are more user friendly than Windows. Macs are usually quite strong and, therefore, expensive when it comes to the hardware, while many PCs are downscaled in comparison. So when you say that your old Mac is a lot faster than your 4 month PC makes me think that your PC is a cheaper model comparatively. I expect it doesn't have a good SSD disk, for instance.
